Weekend Outings - What whould be the plan

Weekend outings are very common to almost all working Mumbaikars and that too if its monsoon. While the monsoon has been very good in Mumbai and has brought all its woes with it we still love it. And this is the season to be out in the open , in the hills and in the rains.

Over this weekend we a group of three families went to Wardoli. I had visited this couple of years back which had beutiful surroundings and some great waterfalls...so we decided we will revisit this place again for this short trip this weekend. The plan was to go on Saturday afternoon , go to the waterfalls , take the night rest at the resort and then early morning go on a trek to Prabalgad.
So we reached the Resort as planned and went to the waterfalls...Theres been lot of changes in the last two years since I visited this place last - good as well as bad. Good part is there is a pretty good road made to a very close point for the waterfalls. The bad obviously comes with the good. The place now is full of local boozards. Groups of young folks come here and drink , get injured , litter and go back 'seemingly' happy for having a 'great' outing. While the waterfalls are still great , the surroundings are a complete mess. We also had a jerk washing tiffin boxes and plates on the top of the waterfall !

So it was not a experience to look forward to again.

Next day we started off late for our trek and there was no rains. The sun was up for some time and that made the climate a bit hot. The trek to Prabalgad starts from Thakurwadi. We started the climb to the Machi. But really enjoying the natures beauty. Saw some 8 species of butterflies , some great flora in the jungles. Look at the two beautiful flowers that I captured in my camera

I also got some very good views of the Prabalgad and Kalavantin

We did not go to Prabalgad as it was pretty late and postponed this for another weekend.

Overall , I think the weekends can be a good to trek around but no longer these 'tourist' destinations for me
